Highlight of the Day:

After a four day move north in the markets I may just be able to afford a barrel this Christmas. Perhaps, if my luck continues, something even from the coveted Jack Daniel's "Winter Collection".

Lowlight of the Day:

The startling appearance of the full moon as I worked off this weekend’s anticipated shame at the gym today. The cleaning lady with whom I have established an uneasy truce after a suspected “outside shoe” violation, unexpectedly jackknifed in front of my “Stairmaster” completely obscuring the morning sun. Judging by the significant emotional tides she displaced within me I concur that she has no interest in exploring the predictable perk her position would likely provide.

Any Other Observations:

Good people, who truly know themselves, never change, no matter how long it has been since you have seen them.

Show “NestlĂ©’s Fiber One” the proper respect it deserves.

Highlight of the Day:

My sister in law is coming to town tomorrow night. As compensation for the unscheduled visit I have negotiated one “late night out with the boys” credit to be used at my discretion, anytime between here and the end of December, New Year’s Eve excluded.

Lowlight of the Day:

The low of the day was reached very early on. Our landlord who owns the apartment next door, has temporarily installed his tribe in it and they were up at 03:30, perhaps to catch an early mule train home. The patriarch must be wounded because despite relatively thick walls, his penetrating coughing and cackling shook both my wife and I up, and we suffered accordingly. At 7:02, we awoke again, acknowledged the pain and restored some family pride by rotating on our backs and vertically dancing on the wall, Lords of the Dance if only for a minute or two. Yes we knew they were probably gone, but perhaps they had left someone behind, an elder maybe too weak to make the journey home.

Any Other Observations:

My two carrier pigeons, which I feed daily, seem to have reunited after an obvious falling apart. It might just be bird seed to us but recently it seems to have ruffled some feathers.

November 26, 2008

Highlight of the Day:

Two girls in a car honked at me and I didn’t appear to be in their way.

Lowlight of the Day:

Two bugs that had been caught between our double windows appear to have escaped. My David Kirsh exhibit will have to close.

Any Other Observations:

I worked off my intellectual hangover today by playing a speed game of Scrabble. It turns out I do really know only one four letter word…

I met another new pompously proud, papa today and was pleased to see how fat he had become. To quote a clever friend of mine, " It’s not the the kids that bother me it’s their parents".
